So Saul left the cave and started down the road. And David left the cave and called out to Saul, 'My lord the king!'
Saul looked behind him. David prostrated himself and said to Saul, 'Look, my father, and see the edge of your robe in my hand! When I cut off the edge of your robe, I didn’t kill you. So realize and understand that evil and rebellion are not my plan.'
When David finished saying these words to Saul, Saul said, 'Yahweh put me in your hands, but you did not kill me. Now I realize that the kingdom of Israel will be established in your hand.'
'So swear to me now in Yahweh's name that you will not kill my descendants or destroy my name from my father's family.'
