The king and his entire royal court set out on foot with all his servants with him. All his officers were with him, all the Cherethites, the Pelethites, and the 600 men from Gath who were in David's service.
As David was going up the Mount of Olives he was weeping with his head covered and his feet bare. David was told, 'Ahithophel has sided with Absalom.'
So David said, 'O Yahweh, make the advice of Ahithophel foolish!'

So David and his men went on their way as Shimei went along the hill opposite them, shouting curses as he threw stones and dirt at them.
