On the third day, a messenger from Saul's camp arrived at Ziklag with his clothes torn and dirt on his head. He threw himself prostrate before David, saying, 'The army fled the battle and many fell dead. Even Saul and his son Jonathan are dead!'
David said, 'How do you know that Saul and his son Jonathan are dead?'
