The Three honored him, and he became their leader even though he was not one of them.
Eleazar son of Dodo was one of The Three. He was with David in Pas Dammim, when they taunted the Philistines who were gathered for battle.

He even killed an Egyptian who was seven and a half feet tall. The Egyptian had a spear as big as the crossbeam of a weaver’s loom, and Benaiah attacked him with a club.
He grabbed the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand and killed him with his own spear.
