Now Saul was at Gibeah under the tamarisk tree with his spear in hand. He said to all his servants stationed around him, 'Listen up you Benjaminites! Is Jesse's son giving you all fields and vineyards or making you all commanders and generals?'
'For you have all conspired against me! Not one of you feels sympathy or informs me when my own son commissions my servant to hide in ambush against me!'

Doeg the Edomite then said, 'I saw the son of Jesse come to Ahimelech and all the priests of his father's house at Nob. He gave him provisions and the sword of Goliath as well.'
So the king arranged a meeting with Ahimelech the priest and all the priests of his father's family at Nob. They all came to the king and Ahimelech said, 'Here I am, my lord.'
Saul said to him, 'Why have you conspired against me, you and this son of Jesse, giving him bread and a sword so that he now rises up against me, waiting in ambush?'
