Then David went to Ahimelech the priest at Nob. Trembling with fear, Ahimelech asked David, 'Why are you alone with nobody with you?'

The priest said to David, 'There is no regular bread, only the holy bread is available, provided that the men have kept themselves away from women.' David replied, 'Indeed women have been kept away from us as usual when I set out.'
So the priest gave him holy bread. Now one of Saul's servants named Doeg the Edomite was there that day.
David said to Ahimelech, 'Is there no sword or spear here? I did not bring my sword or other weapons with me, because the king’s business was urgent.'
