The spirit of Yahweh turned away from Saul, and an evil spirit from Yahweh tormented him.

Saul's servants said to him, 'Let our lord command his servants to find someone who can play the lyre. When the evil spirit from God comes upon you, he will play and you will feel better.'

David came to Saul and stood before him and Saul loved David greatly.

He sent word to Jesse saying, 'Please allow David to stay with me, for I like him very much.'

So whenever the evil spirit from God would come upon Saul, David would play the lyre.
