The spirit of Yahweh turned away from Saul, and an evil spirit from Yahweh tormented him.

Saul's servants said to him, 'Let our lord command his servants to find someone who can play the lyre. When the evil spirit from God comes upon you, he will play and you will feel better.'

So Saul said to his servants, 'Find me a man who plays well and bring him to me.'

And one of the servants said, 'I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem who is a skilled player, a brave warrior, eloquent, and handsome. And Yahweh is with him.'

So Saul sent messengers to Jesse saying, 'Send me your son David who is with the sheep.'

David came to Saul and stood before him and Saul loved David greatly.

And David became Saul's armor bearer.

He sent word to Jesse saying, 'Please allow David to stay with me, for I like him very much.'

So whenever the evil spirit from God would come upon Saul, David would play the lyre.

And Saul would find relief, feeling better, and the evil spirit would leave him.
