The Philistines gave Samson thirty attendants, and he said to them, 'Let me give you a riddle. If you can give me the answer during the seven days of the feast, I will give you thirty fine robes. If not, you will give me thirty fine robes.' They replied, 'Let us hear your riddle.'
Samson said to them, 'Out of the eater came something to eat. Out of the strong came something sweet.'

For three days they could not solve the riddle, and on the fourth day they said to Samson's bride, 'Coax the answer to the riddle out of your husband or we will burn you and your father's family! Did you bring us here to rob us?'
So Samson's bride went and cried before him, 'You only hate me, you do not love me! You gave the men of my people a riddle, but you have not told me the answer!'

The spirit of Yahweh then seized Samson, and he went to Ashkelon and killed thirty men.
