A long time passed after Yahweh made Israel secure from all their enemies, and Joshua was very old.

So Joshua summoned all Israel, including the elders, rulers, judges, and leaders, and told them, 'Carefully obey everything written in the Law of Moses, and do not mix with the other nations around you.'

'If you ever intermarry with them and establish friendly relations with them, know for certain that the Yahweh will no longer dispossess these nations from before you.'
'For just as Yahweh has fulfilled every promise made to you, Yahweh will also fulfill every threat made against you, until he destroys you from this good land which he has given you.'

'Yahweh is a jealous god and will not forgive your transgressions or your sins. If you worship a foreign god, he will bring disaster on you and destroy you.'
After this, Joshua died at the age of one hundred and ten.

They buried him in the land of his inheritance, at Timnath Serah, north of Mount Gaash in the hill country of Ephraim.
