Now Abimelech had not slept with her, so he said, "Lord, will you destroy an innocent people? Didn’t he say to me ‘She is my sister’? And she herself said ‘He is my brother.’”
"I know," said God in the dream, "It was I who kept you from touching her and sinning against me. Now, return the man’s wife. If you don’t, you will certainly die—you and all your people."
In the morning, Abimelech summoned Abraham and said, "How have I wronged you that you brought such guilt on my kingdom? You have done things to me that should not be done! Why did you do this?"
And Abraham said, "I thought, "There is no fear of God in this place, and they will kill me because of my wife." Besides, she really is my sister — the daughter of my father, but not my mother."
Abimelech returned his wife Sarah to him, and gave Abraham sheep, oxen, and male and female slaves.
