Abraham was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day.

He looked up and saw three men standing nearby.

Abraham ran to meet them and said, "Do not pass by. Let some water be brought so you may wash your feet. Let me bring some bread, and after that you may pass on." And they said, "Very well, do as you say."
Abraham rushed into the tent and said to Sarah, "Hurry, take fine flour and make bread!"

He ran to the herd and selected a good and tender calf, giving it to the servant who quickly prepared it.

Abraham took some curds and milk and the calf he had prepared and set it before them. He stood nearby while they ate under a tree. And they asked him, "Where is your wife Sarah?"
Then Yahweh said, "Surely I will return to you at this time next year and your wife Sarah will have a son."

Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, and she laughed to herself, saying, "After I have grown old and my master is old, shall I have pleasure?"
Yahweh said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh? Is anything too amazing for Yahweh?"
Sarah was afraid and lied, saying, "I didn't laugh."
